How to assemble:

In advance of our first birthday (this website launched on 29 June 2011) we wanted to mark that year in a special way and on 16 June 2012, a Summer Audience was our first event.

loveahappyending.com began from one simple idea – hand-picking a group of 30 like-minded new authors who could become a writing family.  The aim: giving mutual support, sharing information to help each individual raise the bar and celebrating a shared passion that takes over one’s life.  In these exciting times it’s a brave new world, but making your way forward is daunting for the new and inexperienced.  Our authors are at the start of their journey and this website is still here to celebrate our first birthday due to one reason – READER POWER.

We had no idea if the website would last 3 weeks, 3 months or 3 years – whether anyone at all would come to pay us a visit.  The problem with being passionate about something is that it tends to overcome the normal thought processes that make you hesitate before embarking on a new path.  However, as with all grand passions we donned our rose-tinted spectacles and there was quite a detailed plan.  It looked beautiful and appealing with its strawberry and champagne approach.  The happy ending didn’t refer to every book on our website – it was about escaping into a good book to have a break away from the rigours of life; it was celebrating the way the spirit struggles to survive and overcome at all costs and some stories will take you to those places.  It was about celebrating the sheer single-mindedness of a group of people determined to turn their passion into reality.

One year on and we have just celebrated with a party that was a Summer Audience of readers, new authors, and two revered, best-selling authors – the wonderful Catrin Collier and a drop-in visit by the fabulous Jill Mansell – at Sir William Romney’s School, Tetbury. Nestling in the heart of the Cotswolds it is a great venue and we would like to thank SWR for the support it gave to this event.

Over the next week we are going to share with you the essence of what was an amazing day, which featured some mini-workshops and talks – including information about branding and publishing.  Here are some of the wonderful comments we received:

‘An amazing day, much more than I expected’

‘I’m going away to join Twitter, then finish writing my first story… thank you!’

‘I’ve always been passionate about reading and it’s been fascinating to gain an understanding of the processes a writer goes through’

 ‘I can’t wait for next year…’

We will be telling you about the talks, readings, the role of our Associate Readers and the live interviews by Kim (The Bookworm) Nash.   StaffordFM Book Club were with us throughout the day, with DJ and radio presenter Lee Middleton back in the studio doing his magic and eager to find out what was happening!

Our day culminated in an announcement that 3 NEW authors would be joining us and we’ll be telling you all about that on 27 June, 2012.

We thought we would share with you some of the smiles that graced the day; I think we can safely say that people had a very good time!

And, of course, the group photo …..

A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended – audience, speakers, readers, our two very special guests Catrin Collier and Jill Mansell.  People came from far and wide – flying in from bonnie Scotland and … Stephanie Keyes from Pittsburgh, US!

We’d love you to come back and visit us again as we unfold the full story over the coming week.
