“Here we go again, my lovely!” Launch Day for Sophie’s Run

Come on Tour with Sophie and Dan:
Celebrating the Launch of Sophie’s Run

“Well, here we are again, my lovely.” Or so the butler, James, addresses Miss Sophie in the classic ten-minute play, Dinner for One. “Same procedure as last year, Miss Sophie?”

If you don’t know this sketch that amuses thousands of German people every New Year’s Eve evening, it’s well worth taking a look. I guarantee you belly laughs! Obviously my heroine, Sophie, totally adores this play featuring a fellow heroine called Sophie….

And so indeed, here we are again. Me, Sophie, Dan, Rachel and you all. Today, we are celebrating the launch of Part 2 in the Rock Star Romance Trilogy, Sophie’s Run. Bearing in mind that last year this time, I hadn’t even signed my contract with Sapphire Star Publishing, this feels like a fantastic achievement and I am ecstatically happy.

Sophie’s Run is available right now in Amazon.com paperback and Kindle, as well as Amazon.co.uk paperback and Kindle editions; at Barnes & Noble and other sites. Happy Dance! Read on to find out more and don’t miss the party and giveaway!

This is a good place to say ‘thank you’ to a few
of the wonderful people who’ve helped me
along the way.

First of all, the lovely Linn B Halton, who has mentored and encouraged me at every step of the way. Second, everyone right here at loveahappyending.com, authors and readers alike ~ I couldn’t do it without your support.

Next, a big thanks must go out to my fabulous publisher, Sapphire Star Publishing: Amy and Katie, you rock for taking on a completely unknown author (me!) and guiding her at every turn. I am lucky and honoured to be working with such a great team!

My husband, Jon, deserves a mention, standing, as he does, firmly behind me and picking up the housework slack when mummy-me is too busy being author-me. You rock!

Alex Lewzcuk over at Siren FM deserves a mention here for his enthusiastic support for and tireless promotion of the cause that is the Rock Star Romance Trilogy. Thank you!

The list could go on and on, but I don’t want to perform a five-hour Oscar acceptance-speech drama, so to everybody else out there, readers, fans, family, friends and fellow authors alike: you know how much I appreciate you!

Let me tell you more about the star of the day,
my second novel! Give it up for SOPHIE’S RUN.

Sophie’s Run continues the story of the romance between Sophie and her favourite rock star, the one and only Dan Hunter. Alas, the path towards true love is anything but straight and even, as Sophie discovers in this second leg of her journey. In fact, it seems to take her into a whole new direction, and not one that Dan is always particularly happy about. But he decides to bide his time and simply ‘be there’ for our lovely heroine. I promise you laughter, tears and reflective moments, and a definite happy glow at the end… laced with a certain amount of suspense.

Here’s the blurb:

Her famous star remains her rock while life takes her on a little detour…

Who says that the road towards true love is straight and even?  Sophie is certainly discovering that it is anything but.

So she has finally found the man of her dreams! Well… she knows who he is, even though she hasn’t actually quite met him yet.  But she misses her opportunity, and then her life goes crazy.  Rock star and ex-fiancé, Dan, keeps getting in the way of her new romance—even if he is just trying to be helpful.  A fire, an impromptu mini-trip with Dan, and a dreaded wedding later, Sophie is still struggling to meet the love of her life. Then, just as she is getting it together with her perfect man, best friend Rachel commits an act of unspeakable betrayal.

Sophie has had enough. Confused and distraught, she decides that it is time for radical change.  Surprising herself and shocking her friends, she embarks on a secret and journey and eventually gets her life back on track.

And here’s a favourite scene:

Dan let the music fade out before he spoke. “What do you think?”

“It’s beautiful,” I offered truthfully. “But—I don’t know, it feels a bit unfinished.”

“Unfinished?” he probed.

“Well, there seems to be something missing. What’s with the long silences?”

“Ah,” Dan said jubilantly, “I was hoping you’d pick that up. See, this is meant to be a duet, man and woman singing to each other. I wanted to try something new. Obviously, I’d like to sing the male part but I don’t know who’s going to take the female part yet.” He paused.

I was still rubbing emotional goosebumps out from my arms.

“And?” I prompted, when he didn’t continue.

“It’s kind of getting difficult to finish the song without a female voice. I think it’ll work but I can’t tell for certain. Would you help me?”

“Sure. But what could I possibly do?”

Dan regarded me levelly. “I want you to sing.”

I nearly fell off my chair. “What, me? You are kidding.”

Dan shook his head. “I kid you not.”

“But Dan! I can’t sing. I’m the world’s worst singer. I can’t even hold a tune alone in the bath.”

“Yet you sing in the choir,” Dan offered calmly. He had clearly given this some thought.

“Well, yes…but that’s different,” I tried to explain. “There are lots of us and I’ve got sheet music—”

“Aha,” Dan pounced with a flourish. “If it’s sheet music the lady be needing, I can help you.” He rifled around in a big pile of paper and extracted a handwritten score.

“There you are. That’s your…that’s the female part. Please?” He gave me his best little-boy-lost look. “Just try? I want to hear what it sounds like with the two voices together. Please?”

One gin and tonic and the best part of a bottle of wine spoke before I could think.

“Okay,” I heard myself agree. “But you better coach me. And if it’s terrible, you’ve got to wipe it all out.”

“Deal,” Dan said, and we formally shook hands.

And yes! Sophie’s Run is now available in Kindle edition from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, and in Paperback edition from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. You can also get the paperback at Barnes & Noble, or download Sophie’s Run onto your Nook (coming soon).

So that was the “here we go again” part.
As for “Same procedure as last year, Miss Sophie…” The answer is no. No? No!
