Publication Day: Sophie’s Turn…

…the End of the Long and Winding Road, or Merely the Beginning?

Who would have thought?

Who would have thought, when I joined this amazing project less than a year ago, that I would sign a publishing contract with a small press publisher in the United States of America only a few short months later? Who would have thought that my independent, somewhat bumbling and at times… shall we say, erratic foray into the world of publishing would lead me here, to this point, the formal launch of Sophie’s Turn by Sapphire Star Publishing?

Well, I wouldn’t have thought. I was working jolly hard at my book, at promoting myself, my blog and, through, a fabulous group of other authors. I was working frantically at my second novel, the sequel to Sophie’s Turn. I wanted to rock the world, I wanted to make it all happen. But I never once thought this opportunity would present itself, or this day would come so fast.

It’s been a tremendous journey. My learning curve in all things writing and promotion has been practically vertical, and just when I thought I’d reached the peak of experience, Sapphire Star Publishing came along and upped the ante a little bit more. I had ups, and lots of downs along the way. I had days when I would ask myself whether all the effort was worthwhile, and whether I was doing anything right. Yet through all of this, I had the team at who cheered me on, propped me up, and encouraged me to take the plunge.

So on this, my proper, proper launch day for my debut novel, Sophie’s Turn, I want to say a huge big Thank You to everyone here at You are an amazing group of authors with a wealth of experience and advice, a tremendous sense of humour, and endless reserves of enthusiasm (and patience!).  Mwah! Naturally, a huge big Thank You also goes out to the team at Sapphire Star Publishing who took a chance on this new, unknown entity of an author who doesn’t even write in her native language. The support and guidance I received over the past few months have blown me away.

So this feels like the journey to publication has come to an end, in a way, doesn’t it. I mean, after all, I’m there. It’s launch day, right?

Wrong. To me, this is just the beginning, the very first step. Oh, alright, the second step. Now the real journey begins. The journey that shall reveal how Sophie’s Turn will fare out in the big wide world. The journey that shall reveal what happens to Sophie and Dan in the next book of the Rock Star Romance Trilogy and… ultimately… in the third and concluding part. The journey that shall reveal to me what life as an author is really like. I am lucky and blessed that I will undertake this journey right here with and with my publisher, Sapphire Star Publishing. Let’s rock!

About Sophie’s Turn

Slapper.  Slut.  Adulteress.  These are hardly words that Sophie Penhalligan would normally use to describe herself.  Yet this is exactly how she is behaving, all things considered, even if she isn’t quite married to Tim yet.  And it’s all happening because her past is coming to tempt her!  Nine years ago, she met her teenage idol and rock star extraordinaire, Dan, up close and personal.  Well, almost.  Now Dan has crash-landed back in her life.  How could Tim ever stand a chance against the charming, handsome singer?  How could she?

Sophie, now twenty-eight and a budding newspaper journalist, is happily embroiled in a relationship with Tim, her boyfriend of two years.  Until recently, she was confident that Tim would eventually propose—probably as soon as he could get his act together.  But just as Tim’s persistent inaction is beginning to cast a cloud over their relationship, Dan’s sudden reappearance turns Sophie’s world upside down.  Thus unfolds a roller-coaster of events including an ill-fated trip to Paris with Tim, a night of unfulfilled romance with Dan, Sophie and Tim’s engagement party gate-crashed by Dan, and Sophie’s professional secondment to accompany Dan’s band on their revival tour—at Dan’s special request and very much against her will.

And then, one fine day in Paris, Sophie suddenly finds herself engaged to Dan while her erstwhile fiancé Tim is…  well, doing whatever it is Tim does back in London.   What is she to do now?  Who wouldn’t give anything to meet their favorite star, let alone marry him?

Find out how Sophie gets into this impossible situation, and how she turns it around, in Sophie’s Turn, the honest, funny and sometimes bittersweet story of one woman’s entanglement with a rock star.
